ANDY GRIFFITH - YOU WILL BE MISSED!

Andy Griffith in Waitress (2007)
One of America's great icons, Andy Griffith, passed away last Tuesday at the age of 86 A while back I did a review on one of Andy Griffith's last films, Waitress (2007). One of our loyal readers, Jill, commented on the review and the film;

JILL:  Andy Griffith's cameo in this film was probably my favorite piece of this whole story. That and Cheryl Hines, who, BTW is from the PANHANDLE OF FLORIDA...Tallahassee....even though I despise FSU, I love Cheryl Hines in this film and her comedic genius. Keri Rusell's character was refreshing as it was pathetic. On one hand, it was nice to see her outside of her usual goody-goody, pretentious character and on the other hand, it was annoying how nieve she was about thinking pie was going to solve her problems! If Pie solves major life problems such as being a single mother of a child you don't want while cheating on your baby's daddy with your married doctor, sign me up for some pie making classes!!!!
While I didn't comment on Andy Griffith to much in the original review Jill was definitely right.  His portrayal of the stodgy Old Joe in the film was one of the more memorable and heartfelt.  It was great to see him in a film rather than television.  If you never saw his performance A Face In The Crowd (1957) drop everything you are doing and go watch it right now!  It is one of my all-time favorite films. Andy Griffith you are truly missed!
